‘A Confession’ Ramps up the Drama
Driven by intense drama, ITV’s ‘A Confession’ is more than captivating viewing
ITV‘s miniseries A Confession continued Monday, 9 Sept 2019 with its second instalment. The miniseries, based on a true story, ultimately revolves around Det Supt Steve Fulcher and his mishandling of the investigation into 22-year-old Sian O’Callaghan’s disappearance. Fulcher and O’Callaghan are played by Martin Freeman and Florence Howard, respectively.
With teleplays written by Jeff Pope, ‘A Confession’ is not based on a work of fiction. The harrowing nature of the drama requires viewers to be mindful of it being based on true life events. While thee is little doubt viewers are riveted by the intensity of the drama, everyone involved in the production is clearly aware of the need to be respectful to the real-life people they are portraying.
Fulcher, even with O’Callaghan having been missing for days, remains convinced the missing woman is still alive. She was last seen at a Swindon night club. While CCTV footage shows someone resembling O’Callaghan getting into a car, it is at this point the trail goes cold and the lead investigator is left with few options.
