Tom Jefferies, a politician looking for re-election, certainly knows how to poll his constituents.

“This faggot,” referencing David Sheppard, Jefferies said, “is higher than a kite.”

“We keep him that way,” responded Desk Sergeant Richard Gough. “It makes life a lot easier. It also makes Sheppard extremely easy.”

Jefferies, having entered Sheppard’s cell, closes the door behind him.

Constable George Harris, wondering what all the fuss might be, arrives in The Nunnery.

“What’s happening?” Harris asks Gough.

“Jefferies is about to poll his new constituent,” with a smile. Gough told Harris. “Take a look.”

“That’s a big pole,” Harris said.

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
