It was a fairly quiet night. There was a slight wind, clearly audible, blowing. The rustle of the leaves, readily apparent, didn’t distract Roger Davies from his evening plans.

Davies, as he prepared a snack, started to tremble with excitement.

Davies, getting ready to watch Plein soleil, only needed something to eat with his glass of Merlot. Curiously, possibly a tad highbrow, several good cheeses, bread, olives, and grapes were always Davies’ favoured items.

Many film and television critics, including Davies, consider Plein soleil one of René Clément’s finest crime thrillers.

Davies, in recent years, had not watched Plein soleil.
