“Ed,” Lieutenant Kate Dixon said, “are you in some kind of trouble with the British police?”

Senior Detective Ed Greene looked at Dixon with an oddly perplexed expression.

“No,” responded Ed. “Not that I know of!”

“There is a Detective Chief Inspector Ed Hopkins for you on line one,” quizzically observing Greene, Dixon said.

Ed smiles his usual smile and Dixon looks relieved. There is no need for international legal trouble.

“Hopkins and I were both at Oxford together,” Ed told the Lieutenant. “I did not know he made D.C.I. Good for him. D.C.I. outranks Lieutenant by a few grades.”

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
