I have worked in several hotels. A Hampton Inn & Suites in Seattle, an Embassy Suites in Dallas, SeaTac's Red Roof Inn, Seattle's Marqueen Hotel, Burbank's Coast Annabelle Hotel, and Burbank's Safari Inn. It was fun.
I like your story. It is well thought out. I do however have a minor issue with it. I don't know one of the identity the first individual talking.
Who is the person first speaking? Is it the hotel manager, the front desk manager, the front desk supervisor, a front desk clerk, or just a maintenance staff member, or even perhaps a KP?
There is no way of knowing.
