Paranoia can be crippling. Perception is everything. Paranoia, if it doesn’t stem from something real, is the irrational feeling that people are ‘out to get you’. The feeling is typically also persistent. Intrusive attention by others is always unwanted.

Unwanted attention can be terrifying. Matthew James Fletcher, ever since he return to the United Kingdom, has been looking over his shoulder. Fearful of everything, regardless of whether it is real or imagined, Fletcher is constantly terrified. Shadows scare him into make stupid mistakes.

This unfounded mistrust of others can make it difficult for a person with paranoia to function socially or have close relationships. Fletcher, not trusting anyone, has an inability to form proper sustainable relationships.

Anxiety and fear, noting how terrified Fletcher can get even of his own shadow, is disconcerting on an epic scale. Fletcher stares out of his window every night. There are shadows moving to and throw. The sound of voices nearby scare him. Is anything real? Are these delusional thoughts Fletcher is experiencing?

Symptoms, according to psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, must last for one month or longer in…
