Alex James, on seeing the sign pinned to Joseph Middleton’s cell door, looks through the observation hole.

“Ouch,” not realising Constable George Harris was next to him, James said. “DOGS ONLY.”

“Exactly,” making James almost jump with fright, Harris said. “It’s a literal sign.”

“That’s a Great Dane,” trying not to laugh, James said. “He’s going for it alright.”

“Middleton is high,” smirking as he said it, Harris told James. “Jethro is getting what he needs.”

“Jethro?” with a quizzical expression, questioned James. “Jethro is the Great Dane.”

“Yes,” responded Harris. “That would be the dog.”

James watches Jethro finish.

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
