Detective Ed Greene found his British friend in the police station library. There was a distinct silence in the library. Greene’s presence didn’t go unnoticed for very long.

“The noblest form of revenge is to not become your enemy,” in quoting Marcus Aurelius, D.C.I. Ed Hopkins said to Greene.

“You always liked quoting Marcus Aurelius,” as the American detective sat opposite Ed, responded Greene. “Nothing ever really changes with you.”

The librarian could be seen pottering in the background.

“There is something that can be said for research,” Ed told Greene. “I’m just wanting a better view of my enemy.”

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
