CHAPTER FOUR. PART ONE.
Never Not Feeling P*ssed Off…
Throwing it All Away!
Is Matthew James Fletcher the only person that doesn’t like people addressing him with terms of endearment?
The appropriateness of such language, regardless of whether it is liked or not, is undebatable. No one working in a hospital, unless they happen to be related to the person being addressed, should be referring to persons as “my lovely”, “darling”, “sweetheart”, or any other unacceptable term. It’s an unprofessional habit with should have gone the way of the Dodo a long time ago.
“You can make heaven out of hell, or hell out of heaven”, Shannon L. Alder, an inspirational author and therapist, is frequently quoted to have said. “The choice is yours.”
Never not feeling more than a little p*ssed off, especially during the past 14 months, has left Fletcher distinctly bitter. We’re not talking about the drink served at numerous public houses around the country.
Several times, including this recent four month stay at St. Thomas’ Hospital, Fletcher has found himself surrounded by nursing staff that want to help but are incapable of conducting themselves with the level of professionalism associated with hospital environments. One nurse accused Fletcher of treating her like a “dog”.
