Lieutenant Kate Dixon, standing by her office door, observes Captain Ed Hopkins looking at a photograph of a teenager.

“Hopkins,” said Dixon. “Could you step into my office? I have news of sorts.”

Dixon, sitting at her desk when Hopkins closes the door, appears oddly perplexed.

“There is no real news,” Dixon said. “No one has seen or heard of David Sheppard for months.”

“There is this rumour that teenagers have been snatched from the streets,” Hopkins said. “They’re apparently used as captive Rent Boys. Possibly drugged.”

“Rent Boys,” curious, Dixon said.

“Male prostitutes,” responded Hopkins. “Common in big cities.”

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
