The shadows are where one finds the best hiding places. Jacob “Rusty” Rust, keeping to the shadows, remains hidden in plain sight. The two nearby uniformed police officers, more focused on their coffee and donuts, were completely obviously to his presence.

Daniel Morris, a two-bit pimp from Queens, tapped on the police car window.

“You know we could arrest your dumb ass,” said one of the officers. “What do you want?”

“It’s not a social call. There is something happening tomorrow,” Morris said. “The new DA has ruffled a few feathers. You might want to pass this up the ladder.”
