It was quiet when we arrived at the police station. It was so quiet, whilst we approached the reception area desk, one could hear the desk sergeant breathing. It was an odd sound.
As the desk sergeant looked up from his paperwork, before we even got anywhere near him, he directed the constable to take me to the holding cell. They smiled!
“Yes, Sergeant,” said the constable.
A holding cell is a small room found in either a police station or a prison. Detained persons are kept on ice there until such a time that detectives want to question them.
