A New Life in a New Country…

Matthew James Fletcher, whilst in the United States, did a considerable amount of travelling. Fletcher had the financial means to do whatever he wanted and, Fletcher being Fletcher, did exactly that.

Fletcher, after visiting a few choice states on his hit list, returned to Seattle. Soon thereafter, not really looking for companionship, Fletcher crossed paths with a man named Henry Starling. Starling, a self-described friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob, was working as a computer engineer in West Seattle. The computer engineer just happened to be buying a coffee at a Starbucks on Capital Hill when he and Fletcher first met.

Starling was up front about his addictions. Fletcher, a little more guarded, not so much. Far too many times in the past, having revealed something personal about himself, Fletcher found himself more than a little betrayed. He had trusted the wrong people. Moving forwards, not wanting the same things to happen again, Fletcher kept certain things to himself.

Life in the United States, as far as Fletcher was concerned, was unfolding as expected. It was far better than what he had been accustomed to the United Kingdom. Life was not without significant issues. There is no National Health…
