D.C.I. Ed Hopkins savoured his coffee.

“There is nothing quite like a good cup of coffee,” Ed said to Detective Ed Greene. “That swill back home is not coffee. Instant coffee tastes terrible.”

“Tell me about Sam Beckett,” Greene asked Ed. “What was he like?”

Ed, before taking another sip of coffee, smiled slightly.

“Sam was one of those people that saw the best in everyone,” Ed responded. “Several years back, new to Medium, Sam was asked if he’d mind covering a month subscription. He covered it. Sam thought other writers would do the same for him. He was wrong.”
