Desk Sergeant Richard Gough, looking at the list of dogs waiting to visit Joseph Middleton, suddenly started chuckling to himself.

“What’s so funny?” with a curious expression, Constable George Harris asked.

“There is a dog listed with the name ROVER,” Gough responded. “Do you know the adult version of OLD MOTHER HUBBARD?”

“No,” Harris said. “How does that go?”

Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard to fetch her poor doggie a bone. When she bent over, Rover took over and gave her a bone of his own!

“Middleton’s getting lots of doggie bones,” said Harris.

Both men laughed uncontrollably.

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
