Please be advised the Jacob “Rusty” Rust series contains themes of an adult nature….

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.

Dr. Joseph Smith’s body lay on the medical examiner’s slab. The medical examiner, Elizabeth Rogers, had never seen anything this specific.

“Murdered,” Rogers told Detectives Jeff Randall and Marty Hopkirk. “There is no doubt. Smith bleed to death after his lingual artery was cut.”

“His what?” looking at Rogers, stuttered Hopkirk.

“The lingual artery is under the tongue,” pointing to a highly detailed diagram of the mouth, Rogers explained. “Not everyone knows it is there.”

“The murderer could be someone with a grudge,” Randell suggested. “Smith was known for talking to all the wrong people. He could never keep secrets.”
