The conversational style is really good, The way you approach this interaction clearly shows which character is speaking.

The back and fourth is exact and to the point. Because of the word limitations with this kind of story, naturally, we don't always we that with dabbles.

I would guess the waitress has grown accustomed to asking an incoming patron if it is a table for two that's required. This is something that happens in real life.

I can see why Lucy would be annoyed. The number of times I've been asked the same question, when I've clearly been on my own, is countless.

Lucy's not wrong. The world is more than that tiny slice the waitress experiences. The waitress might want to get out more and pop that clearly limited bubble.
