English Professor Rachell Garrett, enjoying a nice slice of birthday cake, was deep in conversation with several neighbours when the doorbell rang.
Answering the door, still holding her plate, Garrett discovered her sister and brother-in-law. Her brother-in-law, carrying a large box, had bought a cake.
“We’ve got a Black Forrest Gateau,” with a huge smile, Rebecca Garrett-Smythe said. “But I see you’re already enjoying a marvellously well-made cake.”
“Come in and meet my neighbours,” Garrett said. “They are a lovely bunch of folks.”
“This is a lovely day,” as she introduced Rebecca and Roger Garrett-Smythe to her neighbours, thought Garrett.
