An ambulance, late Tuesday night arrived at the Beckett residence. Someone had placed an emergency call.

Sam Beckett, discovered on the living room floor, appeared unconscious. He’s already dead. An empty bottle of Merlow and an empty pill bottle were found next to the body.

“What do you think he took?” the ambulance driver said to his paramedic. “It could be anything.”

“Whatever it was,” the paramedic responded, “it worked. There is no coming back from that dosage.”

“His next of kin is D.C.I. Ed Hopkins,” the paramedic continued. “Someone should let Ed know he needs to arrange a funeral.”

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
