“Ed,” Senior Detective Ed Greene said, “what can I do for the great and powerful D.C.I?”

The sound of chuckles came from the opposite side of the telephone call.

“I am heading to New York,” D.C.I. Ed Hopkins tells Greene. “I will be there Wednesday. Please inform your Lieutenant Kate Dixon of my intentions.

“Obviously, knowing how things work over there, I do not want to cause any issues. Dixon will have operational command of the case.”

Greene, as he listens to Hopkins, stares into Dixon’s office as she stares back at him.

“This,” Greene thought, “will not be fun!”

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
