Trump Endorses Stauber
President Donald J. Trump took to Twitter Monday afternoon to announce to his followers his support for Minnesota Republican Pete Stauber.
In a comment tweeted at 15:42, Trump wrote, “Pete Stauber is running for Congress in Minnesota. He will make for a great Congressman. Pete is strong on crime and borders, loves our Military, Vets and Second Amendment. Vote for Pete tomorrow. He has my full and total Endorsement!”
While Stauber seems like he’s a perfect fit for the Trump Administration, he’s not a perfect fit for representing the interests of Minnesotans.
With Minnesota currently being represented by Senator Amy Klobuchar (DFL-Minn.) and Senator Tina Smith (DFL-Minn.) in the United States Senate and Tim Walz (DFL-Mankato), Jason Lewis (R-Burnsville), Erik Paulsen (R-Eden Prairie), Betty McCollum (DFL-Saint Paul), Keith Ellison (DFL-Minneapolis), Tom Emmer (R-Delano), Collin Peterson (DFL-Moorhead) and Rick Nolan (DFL-Duluth), the president is hoping to turn the North Star State fully red in the coming November Midterm Elections.
In the president’s endorsement of Stauber, it should not come as any huge surprise Trump made references to traditional Republican values such as being “strong on crime and borders,” loving the “Military, Vets and Second Amendment.”
When it comes to supporting the Second Amendment, Republicans talk a big game. But when it comes to protecting people from active shooters, there is only ever thoughts and prayers offered as a consolation prize for grieving family and friends of people mowed down in a hail of gun fire.
Being strong on gun rights but weak on civic responsibility is not a good combination. Republicans spin any attempt to create sensible gun control legislation as an infringement of their Second Amendment rights. Unlike Republicans, Democrats only want responsible mentally stable adults to have access to fire arms.
Like other Republicans, Trump included, Stauber references liberals as being the “elites.” Its remarkable how Democrats are apparently the elites when Republicans only ever push legislation which favours millionaires and billionaires. There is nothing to suggest Stauber will be any different to other Republicans.
