The coldest of hearts are hidden in plain sight. Some people like to play all sweetness and light, but when it really counts, cruelty is just under the surface. This is what the late Sam Beckett discovered when he had the nerve to seek help.

All Sam needed was $5 to cover a subscription. It’s not a lot of money. Frustratingly, instead of finding help, Sam got nothing. People turned they backs on him.

Previously, when people approached him for help, Sam was happy to oblige because he felt it the right thing to do. Not everyone is like Sam.

A drabble consists of exactly 100 words. The read time is short. Please remain with the article for at least 30 seconds. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, highlight anything of interest, and clap.
