Your story, in man ways, reminds me of that tale featured in the seventh Harry Potter book... Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It is titled The Tale of Three Brothers... Did you read the book or watch the film adaptations? The film adaptation was a two-parter.

The story you brought to your readers, chillingly beautiful on numerous levels, is marvellously well-executed.

I recall, when I was possibly five years, old, being asked what job I wanted when older... Curiously, not releasing the death penalty was no longer a thing in the UK, I wanted to be a hangman.
